Let me first begin by staying that having an understanding of what your audience needs goes a long way in the success of any web site. I've sat in meetings and media forums where you can see that certain people there had an admiration for the "prestige" of the work they were involved in. If a person has that view then they also have pride and that will be their down fall. They can create some fancy graphics, but fail to meet the needs of people. Messiah told us to feed his sheep, that's our duty as believers. People have needs and they are searching, those who focuse on ways to bring money into "their" ministry have missed the mark. We've seen this not only on web sites, but in church denominations as well and it only serves to dilute the effectiveness of the ministry.

Although there's something to be said for nice graphics, the success of any web site begins with its webmasters attitude. You can have all the degrees and technical know-how you want, but it doesn't guarantee anything. I can't express to you enough how far a humble and loving attitude will take you in your online work. It will be reflected in all you do as you reach people for Christ.

First of all, don't compete with other Christian webmasters. We're all in the same body, promoting the same thing, the gospel of Christ. UpWord Ministries has always been here for that purpose, to help other believers online. Although we can't say that others always have that attitude, we believe they should.

Find things that you are highly familiar with in the Bible. Put those things into your web site. What areas are you skilled or knowledgable in? Those are the things you want to focus on when adding content to your site. Keep things as succinct as possible, don't ramble on yet give enough information to get your point across. Balance is necessary in this.

Provide links to other Christian websites. When you do it encourages those sites to link back to you, this is one of the keys also in search engine optimization. Sites such as Google make it a point to know how many links there are to your site out there. Your site will become more popular based on several things but this is just one of the ways.
