The sin of adultery will keep you out of the Kingdom of Heaven.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

Proverbs
6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

6:24 To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.

6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

6:26 For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.

6:27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

6:28 Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

6:29 So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.


Although we know that adultery is sin and is forbidden by Gods commandments, many of us don't realize just how serious a sin it is. Recently, something within me began showing me that adultery is much more serious than I realize. I came home after work one day and began searching online for information and also opened my Bible and began searching for more in there. The following verse sticks out in my mind as I was reading.

Proverbs 6:32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

God says that the sin of adultery will be one of the sins that will keep a person out of the Kingdom of Heaven.

We know that the redeemed are passed from death unto life and God will not judge them because they have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb of God. But the Bible does say that adulterers will be judged. Those that are judged are those that have been resurrected only to be cast into the lake of fire.

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Back in Old Testament times, the sin of adultery warranted receiving the death penalty by way of stoning if a person got caught in it.

Proverbs 30:20 Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

Ezekiel 16:35-42
Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD: Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them;

Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.

And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy. And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare.

They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords. And they shall burn thine houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou also shalt give no hire any more.

So will I make my fury toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry

The Bible tells us that any man who joins himself sexually with a woman - that he will become as "one body" and "one flesh" with her.

1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

We have to consider that we are members of the body of Christ, by committing adultery we destroy our own soul.

Yet if we repent, God is faithful and just to forgive our sin. If you are guilty of sexual adultery, repent of it, cry out to God 

for forgiveness and he will be faithful to forgive you.
